With DERBY*GOKIT® the only limitation for your gravity racer or slalom racer is your imagination.
The photos in the galleries, below, show soapbox racers (gravity and slalom) constructed using DERBY*GOKIT®. The designs are provided for inspiration in the design your own soapbox.
We welcome you to submit a photo of your own soapbox racer, made using DERBY*GOKIT ®, at gokit@soapboxes.com
Just the basics (with slight modifications).
DERBY*GOKIT® provides plans, dimensions and templates for a "BASIC" racer. The red racer at the left is constructed exactly as described in the plans included in the kit, it is referred to as a "BASIC" racer. The final racer constructed would depend on the materials, tools and skills of the builder. The racers shown below illustrate the flexibility DERBY*GOKIT®allows to promote creativity of the participant.
DERBY*GOKIT® brings out the creative side in kids of all ages, including adults.
Did anyone see bubble maker and teddy bears coming? It's right out of a James Bond movie. Where is Q?
Pink unicorns? Green alligators? Don't forget to add your go-fast flames!
Does your outfit match your soap box?
You don't need to build with just wood.
The chassis of the "rail", shown below, is constructed from metal tubing. Note that the "rail" is even driven differently.
The shell of the Black #2 soap box racer was formed using sheel metal.
Fiberglass soapbox?
The 'basic' racer design was used to support the wire screen form for the fiberglass. The screen is stapled to the wood frame.
Other elaborate racers built by some talented and creative builders.
